Session # 4: Inquiry Based Learning Meets Writing
Description: Writing the essay for the TASC poses one of the greatest challenges our students face to passing the test. As instructors, we could easily become fixated in the way we think about writing just to assess students’ performance to generate a passing score the day of the exam. During this session, we will explore how to incorporate elements of inquiry to break away from the equation “writing equals assessment.” We will also explore alternate possibilities for writing and learning in the Pre-HSE and HSE classrooms that ignite students’ agency and grit to create lifelong learners developing 21st Century Skills and global citizenship.
Audience: ABE, Pre-HSE and HSE Instructors
Presenter: Lizelena Iglesias
